The beautifully shaped stable for the small nativity scene is made of local lime wood. The bows go through many steps of honest carpentry: they are sawed, planed, glued, milled, sanded and elaborately plastered by hand. Before applying the wax varnish finish, the carpenter sands the bottom surfaces of the stable arches flat. This allows the pieces to stand firmly on the table, providing protection and security for the Nativity figures.
